Visual Looping
Concept Design
In partnership with BHDM Design Studio I was contracted to design 3 visual loops of 10 minutes in length. These visuals were to be based on three unique and different prompts.
BHDM Design took on the project of giving the Hyatt Regency SOMA hotel lobby and lounge a brand new facelift. With the goal of bringing in greater clientele post pandemic.
I was brought on board to aid in providing 3 unique visuals to play continuously in the lobby lounge area.
These visuals were to not be fast paced but in slow moving fashions to not pose a distraction to guests and workers in the area. The animated clips were to be in wide 4K resolution(2160x5760), 10 minutes in length, and looping in landscape configuration.
BHDM requested three different reels:
1. Colorful Painterly Hand
2. Black and White City Lights at Night
3. Aetherial Fog
The rest was left up to my interpretation of their provided mood boards, and our collaborative critic discussions.
BHDM's vision for this deliverable was inspired by professional fine artist James Nares and his layered single stroke style showing overlapping curved brush stroke textures sweeping and intertwining around itself.
After several rounds of critics with BHDM we finalized our visual loop with an off white background and moss green paint pallet stroke. Engulfing the viewer through an endless loop of paint strokes.

Inspired by artist Leo Villareal and his partnership with Illuminate. BHDM's vision for their black and white city lights themed loop was encompassed by blurred out city bokeh lights, the verticality of the bridge supports and high contrast of dark and light values.

After a few critics, we finalized our Black and White City Lights loop. Featuring a high contrast black and white vertical scrolling video showing off city bokeh, and an animated light system reminiscent of the original light patterns featured on the San Francisco Bay Bridge.

BHDM's vision for this deliverable was inspired by billowing San Francisco fog flowing through the the Marin Headlands and covering the city and famous Golden Gate Bridge
After a couple of scrapped concepts, showing camera angles traveling through mountain ranges of fog, and lights piercing though the valleys dense fog as on ode to car light trails captured through long espoused photography. BHDM chose to go with a center directional fog void loop.
